EXPERIENCE
Prior to becoming a full-time artist, I was a teacher. I’ve taught at various alternative schools and worked in programs for at risk students, many who have required specialized help to succeed and thrive. I worked with special needs teenagers for Multnomah County ESD, was the director of a high school program for learning disabled students on the campus of Jesuit High School in Portland. I finished my formal teaching career as an instructor in the GED program at Columbia Gorge Community College. I now teach art classes as often as can.
Art has always been a part of everything I do. I’ve been drawing and painting as far back as I can remember and taken classes in art, sculpture and printmaking every year since Kindergarten. I’ve shown at galleries and participated in fine art shows all over the United States and have experience making public art. I have paintings at Oregon Health Sciences Center (Percent for Art) and at Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington. Regence Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oregon own a life- sized painted papier mache cow (Moo-Lon-Rouge) that was on display in the City of Portland and then was auctioned off for charity.
